Catch Up 2012-13
Where did 2013 go? I guess I was busy. Picking up where I left off: York Fair 2012 resulted in several new paintings: Velevety Iris II, Rural VA Homestead II and the beginning stages of Pond and Cow Path. On the 2nd Saturday of the fair, I attended the Hiestand School's 100th Anniversary, hosted by Emmanuel Christian Fellowship, the historic building's current occupant. While there I began a portrait of the building. In October, attended Shrewsbury Fall Fest on threatening day, so I took my most compact display ever: One table, one chair, one umbrella, several small paintings, some notecards. It was worthwhile but when it sprinkled at 2pm, I took it as my cue to depart. Later in October, I did a lovely event at PowderMill Commons in York. My indoor display was compact and it was a good show. Early November was brushstrokes & Bass Notes, where a display of students & my works was complemented by musical renditions. It was an enjoyable afternoon of food, fine art & music. At the November meeting of hershey Area Art Association I met Andy Smith, the judge who awarded my Rural VA Homestead a 1st prize at the September Member's Show. At Glenview Church 's Christmastime in Loganville, I produced an 8x10 still-life with Red Apples, while chatting with showgoers & manning my booth.

Village Art Association June Program
At Village Art Association's June meeting in the Lititz Library Community Room, I presented tips and pointers on painting with Maroger medium. Program attendees were attentive, asking many good questions & giving positive input. Rather than paint one single picture start-to-finish, I added texture details to a series of partly-finished paintings: Highlights on pewter candlestick; grainlines on onion skin; smoothly-blended sky; water droplets on grapes & puddles on a table.

LVC 2012 Juried Exhibition
In April, I was pleased to have my painting, "Rose Garden Sculpture" accepted into Lebanon Valley College's 41st Annual Juried Show. It was one of about 45 works on display. This was the 4th year in a row that I have had a painting accepted into this exhbit & I consider it quite an honor.

Arthur Hufnagle Library Artisan Holiday Show Glen Rock
Display at Brown's Orchard

September & October was a medium-sized display of paintings & giclee prints in Brown's Brown Bag Lunch Room. Sue Myers was a great help hanging the exhibit. She handled especially well my group of iris paintings. They had a reception on the last Friday of September. Live music was going in the Brown Bean Cafe. A couple from the DC metro area came in to buy apples & chose 5 of the 6 iris paintings. Quite a thrill!
Painting at York Fair 2011

For 9 of the 10 days during 2011 York Fair in September, I painted a variety of works & answered questions. My first effort was a 4x5 oval purple iris which I put into a gold frame as soon as it dried. A few days later, a couple came by and bought it! Next painting was a sculpture in Hershey Rose Garden. Being a complex piece, it took more than 5 days to finish. Lastly I worked
on the scene from rural Virginia. I managed to do two layers & begin details but fair time was over & I had to complete it in my studio. I saw a bit more of this year's fair: the Big Cat Encounter, Pig Races, Hanneford Circus. It was such a rewarding experience I'm already looking forward to the 2012 fair.
