Arthur Hufnagle Library Artisan Holiday Show Glen Rock

In mid-November, I joined a number of other talented artists & craftsmen displaying work at the Arthur Hufnagle Library Artisan Holiday Show, Glen Rock. The show includes paintings, prints, pottery & jewelry and continues through December 29, 2011. Stop in and see some great gift ideas.

Display at Brown's Orchard

September & October was a medium-sized display of paintings & giclee prints in Brown's Brown Bag Lunch Room. Sue Myers was a great help hanging the exhibit. She handled especially well my group of iris paintings. They had a reception on the last Friday of September. Live music was going in the Brown Bean Cafe. A couple from the DC metro area came in to buy apples & chose 5 of the 6 iris paintings. Quite a thrill!

Painting at York Fair 2011

For 9 of the 10 days during 2011 York Fair in September, I painted a variety of works & answered questions. My first effort was a 4x5 oval purple iris which I put into a gold frame as soon as it dried. A few days later, a couple came by and bought it! Next painting was a sculpture in Hershey Rose Garden. Being a complex piece, it took more than 5 days to finish. Lastly I worked
on the scene from rural Virginia. I managed to do two layers & begin details but fair time was over & I had to complete it in my studio. I saw a bit more of this year's fair: the Big Cat Encounter, Pig Races, Hanneford Circus. It was such a rewarding experience I'm already looking forward to the 2012 fair.

On August 14, 2011, Hanover Area Art Guild's 1st Annual Juried Exhibition presented me with
one of their 6 Awards of Excellence for my painting, "Beginning of Knowledge. I received a certificate, ribbon & $250 cash. This is the most significant prize for my work to date. I was pleased that a second painting, "Sculpture, Florence, Italy," was also accepted into the show.

Fall & Winter Art Exhibits

In October 2010 I exhibited 14 paintings at Glen Rock's Hufnagle Library. At the same time I also entered 6 paintings in a Holiday Show at Susquehanna House Gallery, Long Level. Their 2nd floor meeting room/display area is charmingly rustic & river views from windows are majestic. On Dec.5 I took part in their gala reception for customers & friends of Shanks Mare. November & December found my work at Artisan Marketplaces in Gettysburg & York, both sponsored by HACC's Entrepreneurial Studies. An exciting aspect for me were 3 days of "shop-sitting" the 2nd floor of the York Marketplace. I produced a small iris painting each of the 3 days, while chatting with visitors who browsed the marvelous array of arts & crafts assembled in YorkArts City Gallery.

December held another opportunity in the form of an exhibit at Shrewsbury Lutheran Village. Ms. Glenn wrote this glowing item for the website: "'Artist Displays Work at Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village Gallery' Paulette, a renowned local artist, will showcase her artwork at the Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village Gallery, 200 Luther Road, Shrewsbury, through December 31, 2010. Paulette employs classical realism to portray a sense of quiet serenity in her still-life, portrait and landscape works. She attended York Academy of Arts and Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore. She is a member of Oil Painters of America and the Hershey Area Art Association."
